Bedroom Lighting Conundrum – Looking for Remote-Controlled Options (No Internet Preferred)

Hey everyone, I need some help with my bedroom lighting setup. I recently replaced my single pendant light with 6 LED spotlights, all controlled by one switch. I’ve also added two hanging pendant lights above the bedside tables, but they’re hard-wired directly to the mains, meaning they’re always powered on (not connected to the room switch).

I’m looking for two bulbs that I can control with a remote switch, which I can place on my bedside table. Ideally, I’d prefer a solution that doesn’t require internet, but if it’s unavoidable, I’m okay with that. Any ideas or recommendations for a setup like this? Thanks in advance!

Hey! For a non-internet option, you could look at RF-controlled bulbs. They come with a remote switch that you can place anywhere, and they don’t need Wi-Fi to work. You just sync the bulbs with the remote, and you’re good to go. Super simple! I’ve used them for lamps, and they’re great.

I’d second the RF option! I’ve been using the Lutron Caseta system, and it works well without any need for Wi-Fi. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but it’s reliable and easy to set up. You can even get dimmable bulbs if that’s something you’d like.

Have you considered smart bulbs with Bluetooth? They don’t need internet if you’re okay with controlling them via an app instead of a physical switch. Something like the Philips Hue Bluetooth series could be a solid option – no Wi-Fi necessary, and you still have control from your phone or a remote.

I think Ener-J’s remote-controlled bulbs could be what you’re looking for. They come with their own remote, and you can control multiple bulbs from one switch. No internet or app needed – just old-school remote control. Plus, they’re easy to find and pretty affordable!

If you’re open to a little more setup, Zigbee or Z-Wave bulbs are a good option too. They don’t technically use Wi-Fi, but you’ll need a hub like SmartThings. Once you’ve got the hub, though, it’s super versatile, and you don’t need to be online to control your lights.
