Hey all! I’m on the hunt for a budget-friendly way to cozy up my place with better lighting. Right now, I’m surviving with just two table lamps, so looking to switch it up a bit. I found this cool wall lamp at IKEA , but turns out it needs a light socket to work.
Since I’m renting, installing one isn’t an option for me. Any ideas for similar alternatives that don’t require hardwiring? Thanks!
Hey there! Since you can’t install anything with wiring, check out plug-in wall sconces. They offer a similar look to the Kallblixt and just need a free outlet. Here are some options:
IKEA actually has some great plug-in sconces like the ‘FÄRGSKÄR’ or ‘HEKTAR’.
Hardware stores like Home Depot or Lowe’s have a variety of styles and prices.
Online retailers like Amazon or Wayfair offer even more options.
String lights can add a really cozy and homey atmosphere. You can drape them across walls, shelves, or even around a mirror. Look for battery-powered or USB-powered options for easy setup. They come in various lengths and styles, like fairy lights or Edison bulbs.
While you rely on two table lamps currently, consider adding another floor lamp in a dark corner or behind a couch for more ambient lighting. You can also try using brighter bulbs in your existing lamps for a significant change.
For a truly budget-friendly option, candles can add a warm glow to your space. Just be sure to use them safely with proper candle holders and never leave them unattended.
Strategically placing mirrors and reflective surfaces like chrome or metallic vases can bounce light around the room, making it feel brighter and more open. This can enhance the effect of your existing lamps…Those are just my 2 brain cells
