DIY Filter Holder for 100mm x 100mm ZWB2 Glass - Need Help!

Hey everyone,

I’m having some trouble with a project I’m working on for my light build. I need to mount a 100mm x 100mm ZWB2 glass filter, and it has to fit with this heat sink/optic/reflector setup: AliExpress link.

Ideally, I want it to look something like this image and this other angle where the glass has been removed. The tricky part is making the hood/secondary reflector 90 degrees, same as the optic.

Anyone know where I can get an STL file to 3D print or find something I can order? Any help would be awesome!

Hey! I’ve been there before with my own projects. You could try browsing Thingiverse; they have some cool 3D printable filter holders. If you don’t find an exact match, you might need to tweak an existing design. Good luck!

I’ve actually made a similar setup before! What I did was use some aluminum brackets to make the holder. It’s not as sleek as 3D printing, but it does the job, and you can find them at most hardware stores. Just bend them to the angle you need.

You might want to check out this design on GrabCAD. There’s a bunch of useful 3D models there that can be adapted. I’ve sourced a few parts for my own light builds. Worst case, it’s not too hard to modify a basic frame holder in CAD if you have access.

Have you looked into laser cutting? You could have a local maker space cut a holder out of acrylic or wood for you. Might not be as heat resistant as metal or 3D printed stuff, but it’s an option!

Don’t forget to check Etsy! There are people who specialize in 3D printing for niche projects like this. I’ve had some custom parts made there for surprisingly cheap. Worth a shot if you don’t want to print it yourself.
