If so, how do I center them? Took out the center light and added a light over the stove.
It’s not answering your question, but how about lights under the cabinets. I use mine more than the overhead

We have them but didn’t turn them on for the photo. We use them more for ambiance.
Over the doorway and over the fridge.

Is there a rule of thumb for how much distance away from the wall when placing recessed lights over a door?

Not that I’m aware of, I try to keep things symmetrical when possible.
Personally I would add another 3 at the back

Why?
Too many lights. I’ll mock up 2 more this weekend and see what looks best. Two more in the back is easy to write up. Running the wire over the fridge means I’ll need to pull the wire back out but still not a super big deal.
@Oak
Why is it too many?? If you have a dimmer you can always make it less bright. Or do you mean it’s too many because of the logistics of installing them?
Nice kitchen! Yes at least 2 more for sure.

At the back or by the fridge?
One on either side of the fridge to light up inside the cabinets when you open them. The fridge doesn’t need one in front of it because it has lights that turn on when opened.
I know decorating for fall is common, but painting your walls orange is hard core.

Yes, separate load of maybe 3 along the pathway
