Help! Searching for 4'' Warm Dim LED Retrofit Options

I’m almost ready to throw in the towel on my search because I think what I want just doesn’t exist, but here’s one last try. I love having 2700K light in my home, and I’m a fan of warm dim bulbs that don’t drop below 2000K (so they don’t get too orangish when dimmed). Philips Ultra Definition bulbs have been perfect for me since they dim well and shift from 2700K down to about 2200K.

The problem? I need to swap my old 6’’ cans for 4’’ ones, and it looks like Philips has stopped making warm dim LED retrofits (they’re moving away from exposed bulbs). The other reasonably priced options in the $50-60 range (like Elco, Koto, and DMF H series/Lusa Lighting) all start at 3000K, which is just too cool for my taste, even at 75% brightness. Plus, they either dim too low to 1800K or don’t shift in color temperature at all.

I know I could use the Koto and adjust its low-end trim to avoid hitting that 1800K setting, but that feels counterintuitive since I’d be limiting a driver that can dim to 5% when I need it to.

So, are there any 4’’ drivers in the $50-60 range that warm dim down to 2000K? I’d really prefer not to go with exposed bulbs. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! Have you checked out the Sylvania warm dim bulbs? They have some nice 4’’ options that might fit your needs. They go down to 2200K, and the dimming is pretty smooth. Worth a look!

I totally get your struggle! Have you tried the Cree 4’’ retrofits? They’re not exactly in the price range you mentioned, but they dim down nicely to around 2000K. Plus, they look great!

You might want to look into the Lithonia Lighting retrofits. They have some good warm dim options, and I believe they’re around $60. They might not go as low as you want, but the performance is decent!

I hear you! The search can be frustrating. I recently found some good warm dim options at Home Depot. They have a couple of models that go down to 2000K. Just be sure to check the specs!

Have you thought about getting a dimmer switch that allows for more customization? It might help you achieve that warmer tone you’re looking for without compromising on bulb quality.
