Was planning to put a track light on the cross beam. Is that my best bet? Any recommendations on track lights?
What is this room? I think that would help determine what people recommend.
Yeah like the other commenter said, what the rooms application is changes what type of lighting is best for it
I would put low lumen per ft tape in 45 degree channel (brown or black finish) pointed at the ceiling on the inside of the wooden beams. Dim to warm tape maybe. Add torchiere style lamp shooting the peak of the ceiling and you’ve got yourself a beautifully layered lit room.
Let the indirect light take over in the day.
LED strips (indirect) and some suspended fixtures (or track lighting) to help in the night.

Totally agree with LED strip lighting with a aluminium channel and diffuser, they are incredibly stealthy and illuminate well.
It torally depends on the function of the room
