Small Issue with eBay LED Light Strips - Need Fix!

Hello …am new here…,

I recently bought some cheap LED light strips off eBay. Everything seemed fine until I noticed something strange. When I turned the lights off using the remote (with the strip still plugged in), one single LED had a very faint glow, even though the rest were completely off. This happened consistently. Now, that particular LED doesn’t display blue anymore.

Has anyone encountered this before? Any suggestions for a fix? Appreciate any help!

It sounds like you might have a faulty LED or a minor wiring issue. The faint glow usually happens due to residual current, which isn’t uncommon with cheaper strips. As for the blue light not working, it might be that the blue diode in that specific LED has burned out. Unfortunately, with these cheaper strips, individual LEDs aren’t easy to replace. …You could try getting a new strip or just live with it if it’s not too bothersome.

This seems like … bit of electricity leaking to that one LED, even though it’s not supposed to be on. Maybe there’s a short circuit or the LED itself is kaput. Try plugging the strip into a different outlet to see if that fixes it. If not, you might need to upgrade to a better quality light strip.

Yeah, I think you’re right. It sounds like there’s still a little bit of electricity hanging around, even when the strip is off. You could try adding a resistor to drain that extra juice. As for the dead LED, it might be a lost cause. If it’s just one and the rest are working, you could just ignore it or maybe look for a better quality strip next time…That’s my take on ths

I’ve seen this happen with a few of the cheaper strips. Sometimes it’s just a sign of the strip being low quality. If you’re set on fixing it, you could try replacing that section of the strip, but that might be more work than it’s worth. If the light being on all the time bothers you, unplugging it when not in use might be the easiest solution.

This problem could be due to the remote not fully cutting off the power, causing that faint glow. You can try using a different power adapter or adding a switch to fully disconnect the power when it’s off. As for the blue LED, it might be a sign of a dying strip. If it’s new, maybe consider contacting the seller for a replacement, but these cheaper strips can be hit or miss in terms of reliability…
