Do my pendant lights seem too far apart?

I just installed pendant lights in my new home, but I’m not sure if they look too spaced out. The wiring was pre-installed by the builder, and I paid extra for it. What do you all think?

Yeah, they’re a little far apart.

I think the spacing is fine, though I’m not sure I’d have chosen an open-bottom globe for this setup.

Curious—why wouldn’t you go with open-bottom? Is it to avoid reflections on shiny countertops? I’m looking for pendant lights and would love your insight!

I actually like these pendants a lot. I tried a few different options, but these were my favorite.

@Lyle
A closed-bottom globe could give more even lighting on the island. Though, it probably wouldn’t make a huge difference.

It might look off because the spacing isn’t even. With the chairs more evenly spread, it stands out. Ideally, I’d center each light over each seat, but with larger globes, they might feel too close together.

@Briar
The chairs aren’t final—they’ll be replaced with three seats soon. The kitchen is still a work in progress.

In that case, I think it’ll look great with three chairs!

Yes

Depends—do you have a dark spot in the middle of the island?

Good question! Fixtures like this often don’t have optics, so they’re more of a light “blob.” I’d have gone for three smaller fixtures.

@Cruz
There’s no shadow, and the light coverage is good.

Nope, no dark spot.

Nope, no dark spot.

Then you’re all set!

Nope, they look great! If they were any closer, they’d look cramped.

Thanks! I think I’ll leave them as they are.

I’d raise them by 10-20 inches.

Yes, but honestly, I wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t pointed it out.

Good to know! If it’s that subtle, I’ll probably get used to it.
