I’ve been trying to replace the old incandescent 3-way bulbs in my lamps with LED versions, but I’m having trouble finding a 3-way LED bulb that actually works with a three-terminal socket. Most of the LED bulbs I’ve come across either aren’t 3-way or don’t work properly with the socket.
Does anyone know of a reliable brand that makes 3-way LED bulbs compatible with these sockets? Any recommendations or tips would be greatly appreciated!
Heey Ravi…had the same issue in the past. Not all LED manufacturers make bulbs that are compatible with traditional 3-way sockets. However, I’ve had good luck with the Philips 3-Way LED bulbs. They’re designed specifically to work with three-terminal sockets and give you that low-medium-high brightness just like the old incandescents. I hope this helps
I second the recommendation for Philips. I’ve also heard that GE makes some decent 3-way LED bulbs, though they can be hit or miss depending on your lamp. Just make sure to check the specs before buying. Also, sometimes the socket itself can be finicky with LEDs, so it’s worth trying a couple of different brands.
found out that some older lamps just don’t play nice. Even if they’re 3-way sockets, they might not be wired right. If you’re still having trouble, you could try replacing the socket, but that’s a bit of a hassle…
I’ve been using Cree 3-Way LED bulbs, and they work perfectly with my three-terminal socket. They’re a bit pricier but worth it for the energy savings and longevity. Also, make sure your socket is clean and in good condition—sometimes, a bit of dust or corrosion can cause problems with the connection.
There are quite a few options out there. You might want to check out 1000Bulbs—they have a good selection of 3-way LED light bulbs. Here’s the link: 1000Bulbs - 3-Way LED Light Bulbs.
