Help Me Light Up My Office Spaces!

Hey guys! I’ve got two office spaces, and right now they’re rocking those parabolic troffers. I’m thinking of swapping them out for recessed lights instead. I just need help figuring out how many lights and the right lumen output to get good lighting. The ceilings are 10 feet high. Room #1 is 1,433 sq ft, and Room #2 is 1,613 sq ft. Any suggestions?

For office spaces, I’d recommend aiming for around 70-100 lumens per square foot. So for Room #1, you’re looking at around 100,000 to 143,000 lumens in total. Divide that by the lumens each light puts out (say, 800-1000 lumens per light) and you’ll know how many you need. Hope that helps

Don’t forget to factor in spacing too. Recessed lights usually work well spaced about 4-6 feet apart, depending on how bright you want it. For a 10-foot ceiling, you can go closer to 5-6 feet apart for more even lighting. Also, dimmable LEDs might be a good option for flexibility.

If you want to get fancy, you could use a lighting calculator online. It’ll help you fine-tune how many lights you need based on the exact lumens per square foot you’re aiming for. And definitely consider adding some accent lighting for the edges of the room

There is also…energy factor! LED recessed lights use way less power than troffers, so you’ll probably see a drop in your electricity bill too. Just make sure the ones you pick are Energy Star-rated. It’ll save you money in the long run…Just my 2 cents

There is also color temp…make sure the color temperature is right! For offices, 4000K to 5000K is the sweet spot. Anything warmer can feel too ‘homey,’ and anything cooler might feel too harsh. That’ll help keep your team productive and not falling asleep, haha.

I didn’t even think about color temperature or mixing direct and ambient lighting! Thanks for the awesome suggestions
