Hey everyone, I’ve got this outdoor light that shines really bright, and it’s aimed right at my house. Is there any way I can cover up half of it to tone it down? Would aluminum foil work? And if so, how would I attach it? Any ideas are welcome!
You could totally try aluminum foil! Just make sure to use some electrical tape to hold it in place. It should stick well and be easy to remove if needed.
I’d go with something like black electrical tape to cover the part of the light you want to block. It won’t reflect light back into your yard like foil might, and it’s pretty weatherproof!
How about using some frosted glass or plastic to diffuse the light instead? That way it’s not so harsh, and you won’t have to worry about shiny foil reflecting too much.
Foil could work, but I’d recommend using a clothespin or some binder clips to hold it. Just make sure it doesn’t block airflow or trap moisture—those lights can get hot!
Maybe look into those light shield covers they sell online. They clip right on and redirect the light wherever you want. No DIY hassle, and it’s a long-term fix!
