Looking for a Housing for 450W LED Strip Setup (6ft x 2-3ft)

Hey everyone!

I’m planning to put around 450 watts of LED strips into a custom housing with a frosted panel. Ideally, something that’s about 6 feet long and 2 or 3 feet wide. I’d rather avoid buying an existing light panel just to gut it for parts.

Any ideas where I can find a housing like this? Appreciate any suggestions!

Have you checked out any metal fabrication shops? A lot of times they can build custom housings to your specs. Just give them your dimensions, and they might even be able to add in the frosted panel for you.

I’d try looking into aluminum channel suppliers. They sell DIY kits where you can build your own frame and panel setup. You’ll just have to add the frosted acrylic panel on top.

I had a similar project! I went with a commercial sign-making company. They often have large housings available and can do custom sizes too. Plus, they already use frosted acrylic for signage, so it fits perfectly.

Hit up eBay or Alibaba for some custom-sized housings. There’s a bunch of sellers who offer options for DIY lighting projects, and you can get them at a good price if you’re willing to wait for shipping

Maybe try industrial lighting suppliers? Sometimes they have customizable housings for warehouse lights that might fit your needs, and they won’t cost a fortune.

If you’re into DIY, why not build your own with MDF or plywood and get a frosted plexiglass sheet? It’s cheaper, and you’ll have full control over the size and design.
